What is translation?

Etymologically, translation is “carrying across” or “bringing across”. Derives from Latin “translatum or transferre” (to “transfer” – from trans, “across” + ferre, “to carry” or “to bring”). To bring across or to lead across.

Translation is the interpreting of the meaning of a text and the subsequent production of equivalent text, which communicates the same message in another language.

To insure we provide the best quality service, SHELTER, LDA. focuses on the possible combinations resulting from the following languages : Portuguese, English and French, which means

Who are our target customers and what kind of documents do we translate?

Our customers are single individuals as well as private companies and public entities.

Our translation services include documents for general translation, business translation, legal translation and technical translation. We translate a wide range of documents, official and unofficial, involving various branches.

We also translate educational content , informal communications , website content , academic diplomas and school transcripts, Birth Certificates , Marriage Certificates , Employee Handbooks, Company manuals , résumés (CVs), Contracts, etc.

If the client so desires, we can also provide official translations recognized by the Notary Public, to prove the authenticity of the translation (coming soon).

Taking into account the seriousness, the variety, the complexity and personality of the information for which our customers ask for translations, SHELTER, LDA. ensures that all documents and personal information are kept confidential; as such, to demonstrate our professionalism and strict respect for the private and discrete character of our clients’ information, we may sign a confidentiality agreement whenever necessary.
